About
Sue comes from a background of musical theatre but her early passion for cooking developed and now Sue has been involved in the food industry for over 20 years. Her experience ranges from recipe development and testing, to catering, teaching, writing, and radio presentation.Sue was involved with Annabel Langbein for more than 8 years, testing recipes for her books.
Her writing experience has included restaurant reviews for early issues of Cuisine. This developed into Sue testing the “Readers Requests” recipes.Recently Sue has had articles published in the Tourism Business magazine on improving breakfast in B and B’s as well as an article on The Gourmet food of North East Victoria for House of Travel “Inspire” magazine. She has also had articles published in the Christchurch Press, The NZ Gardener and Foodtown’s Living Today magazine.
In 2010 she is going to write her first book on travelling and cooking around the world.Currently Sue is the tester for Taste Magazine’s guest chef recipes and now creates her own recipes for the Shortcut column in Taste .Teaching at various cooking schools in Auckland was a particular joy for Sue who loves to interact with her pupils and she is currently teaching a group of men how to cook!Function-chef work for a large catering company was yet another area she chose to work in for several years and credits that training with her ability to cope happily with providing catering in clients’ homes. After dealing with very large numbers, even as part of a team of chefs, cooking a dinner for eight is a breeze.
Sue’s involvement with Food shows on NewstalkZB provides lots of fun, particularly on public holidays when a wide range of callers phone in. It’s often “seat of the pants” stuff as those curly questions come in. Sue prays she won’t get too many questions about tripe!Sue is the Immediate Past President of the New Zealand Guild of Foodwriters.www.foodwriters.org.nz
